AllBASIC Forum

Forum Members,

Is there any topic the members of this forum would be interested in? With AIR going MIA and very little activity by anyone other than myself, I'm considering closing down the forum. The forum and archive forums I host are well indexed in the search engines and is the only thing at this point that justifies keeping the forums active.

Does anyone have a suggestion how we may see more activity on the forum?

People are going through a lot in these times. Hopefully one day, there will be a great return to computing.

There's not much for me to share other than my language experiments. It's just nice to just have a place to keep the option for discussion open.

My forum has been equally as dead. I just post progress updates. From what I have seen other forums are toxic gossip cesspools and are also dying. The only options are to let forums die or be the ones to weather the storm.

The forums I host contain a lot of code and examples for multiple BASIC languages. I still feel BASIC has a purpose. ScriptBasic saves me a lot of time with the projects I do for clients.

If you are still using a version of BASIC with your projects, please leave a post letting us know what you're using and what for.

I'm using the ScriptBasic proxy web server for a QuickBooks Online app for a major payments processing company.

With Theo's forum only having a half a dozen active users, keeping this forum going seems like a waste of time. (After 14 years.) I guess I have to accept BASIC is a dead language.

Thomas Kurtz 1928 - 2024 (November 12th)

We are saddened to share the passing of CHM Fellow Thomas Eugene Kurtz, cocreator of the BASIC programming language and Dartmouth Timesharing System. Kurtz?s work revolutionized computing accessibility, bringing programming to students in the 1960s and beyond. His legacy lives on in the generations of programmers who first learned to code with BASIC.

This forum and the others I host will be in archive status going forward.

The RaspberryBASIC forum will remain active but I have no plans to participate. This might be good forum for the BaCon RPi / Pico effort.

I'm no longer supporting the ScriptBasic open source project.
